TPLO surgery is the gold standard procedure for treatment of a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). Akin to its human counterpart called the ACL, the CCL is responsible for providing forward and backward sliding of the femur against the Tibia. The debilitating lameness associated with this sliding resulting from a ruptured CCL is successfully treated with the TPLO procedure.
